The driver of a grain truck that pulled down power lines, causing a widespread power outage in Somerset County, MD, on Wednesday night, has been charged in the incident, according to Maryland State Police.

Delmarva Now reports that Michael B. Bowen has been charged with failure to assure safe operating condition of a motor vehicle prior to driving, police said.

Bowen was driving a truck owned by Mountaire Farms, a chicken producer with headquarters in Millsboro, DE, when he exited the company’s feed mill with the truck’s boom in the up position, according to state police. The truck’s boom caught the power line for the traffic signals at the intersection and pulled the lights into the road, police said.
