Fire at Oregon Ethanol Fuel Facility Prompts Evacuations

Crews arrived to heavy smoke and fire coming from fuel processing and storage area in Cornelius

A major fire at an ethanol fuel facility in Cornelius, OR, is now under control after forcing 80 homes to be evacuated and forcing detours in the area on Tuesday, reports Fox 12 Oregon.

Fire crews were dispatched to a reported fire at 1:30 p.m., where Thunderbolt Racing Fuel and Summit Foods is located. When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a fuel processing and storage area on the property.

The fire was deemed under control at 7 p.m. No one was hurt, but three other structures on the property were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
