Firefighters battled flames in a large grain dryer at the Rugby Farmers Elevator in Rugby, ND, the afternoon of January 21, reports The Pierce County Tribune.

The elevator was drying soybeans at the time of the fire. Firefighters say the fire was contained to the dryer and they had to drain all the grain, about 4,500 bushels, to put it out. It took emergency crews six hours to completely extinguish the blaze.

David Holzwarth, manager for Rugby Farmers Elevator, told the Tribune the fire-damaged dryer was out of commission but the elevator has smaller dryers that were not damaged, so operations were nearly back to normal.
