Farmers, ranchers ‘anxious’ as farm bill expires

A one-year extension of the 2018 farm bill expired September 30, and Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives don’t have the votes to pass a new bill, according to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.

The bill’s expiration has left farmers and ranchers anxious about whether Congress can secure a new, five-year reauthorization, according to a statement from the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF).
