U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said Wednesday he is hopeful that the United States and Mexico can reach an accord to avoid U.S. tariffs being applied on Mexican goods over immigration.

In an interview with Bloomberg, he said he is concerned and anxious over the fact that tariffs may interfere with ratification of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement for trade.

Mexican officials met with their U.S. counterparts for talks in Washington on Wednesday.
