Scoular elected three new members to the company’s Board of Directors on Tuesday: Diane Duren, a retired Union Pacific executive and Omaha community leader; Stephanie Harlan, entrepreneur and daughter of former Scoular CEO Neal Harlan; and Tom Werner, the former CEO of Lamb Weston.

“Diane, Stephanie and Tom bring different backgrounds, skill sets and industry perspectives that will strengthen the board,” said Scoular Board Chairman David Faith.

Duren retired from Union Pacific in 2017 after serving in various leadership roles, most recently as Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and Corporate Secretary. Before joining UP, she worked as a certified public accountant with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells.

A Creighton University graduate, Duren now chairs the university’s Board of Trustees. She also serves on the boards of Werner Enterprises and the Omaha Community Foundation, among other organizations.

Stephanie Harlan is a seventh-generation Nebraskan whose father, the late Neal Harlan, was one of the original partners who purchased Scoular Bishop Trading Company from the Scoular family in 1967. He went on to serve as President and CEO.

“I am honored to join the Board of Directors following my parents’ longtime service to Scoular,” Harlan said. She is a University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate with executive management training from Stanford University. Before retiring in 2024, she built a mortgage protection insurance agency with agents across the country.

Werner led Lamb Weston’s separation from ConAgra Brands as a stand-alone public company in 2016. During his nine-year tenure as president and CEO, he led the company’s growth through acquisitions and factory expansion.

“I’m excited to join the Board of Directors at Scoular, where there is an unwavering commitment to private ownership,” Werner said.

The new directors join Faith, Scoular CEO Paul Maass and four other board members: Ron Bingham, John Heck, Doug Stark and Phil Van Court.
