CN announced the winners of its 2025 Safe Handling Award, recognizing 194 companies that demonstrate excellence in safely loading and transporting regulated products by rail. The annual recognition reflects CN’s commitment to being the safest transportation provider in North America.
Safety standards drive recognition
Recipients are evaluated based on established criteria, including meeting stringent safety requirements for hazardous materials transport. The award represents an important component of the Responsible Care Program, an ongoing performance improvement initiative where CN participates in both Canada and the United States.
“Congratulations to the 2025 recipients for their ongoing dedication to the safe handling of regulated goods that transit along our network,” said Janet Drysdale, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at CN. “At CN, safety is our core value, and guides everything we do.”
Agricultural sector well represented
Several grain and feed industry leaders earned recognition, including major agricultural companies Cargill Incorporated, CHS Inc., and The Andersons Inc. Corn processors honored for safe operations included Little Sioux Corn Processors, Pine Lake Corn Processors, and Marquis Energy Illinois LLC. Agricultural cooperative United Cooperative and grain trader Blue Sky Agrisource Trading also received awards, demonstrating the sector’s commitment to safe handling practices for both agricultural commodities and regulated products.
The recognition highlights companies that lead by example with every shipment, according to Buck Rogers, vice president of petroleum and chemicals at CN. “Safety is a shared responsibility, and these awards highlight customers who lead by example with every shipment,” Rogers said. “Their commitment helps keep our employees safe as well as the communities where we operate.”
