Benson Hill, Inc. an innovative ag tech company focused on harnessing plant genetics, announced the appointment of Susan Keefe as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective March 29, 2024. Keefe, a seasoned leader in the life sciences and biotechnology sectors, will be taking over from Dean Freeman, who is leaving Benson Hill to explore new opportunities.

Keefe comes to Benson Hill with substantial experience, having most recently served as the CFO of GreenLight Biosciences, a company specializing in RNA-based solutions in agriculture and human health. Her background in both public and private companies in the life sciences and biotechnology industries positions her as a strategic fit for Benson Hill's evolving business model and goals.

Deanie Elsner, Chief Executive Officer of Benson Hill, expressed confidence in Keefe's appointment, highlighting her financial expertise as critical to the company's shift to an asset-light partnership model. Elsner emphasized Keefe’s diverse experience as vital for Benson Hill’s future, particularly in improving the financial profile and realizing the potential of the company's unique genetic assets.

Elsner also extended gratitude to Dean Freeman for his significant contributions and leadership during his tenure at Benson Hill. Freeman, who will continue in his role until March 29, 2024, has been instrumental in the company’s development over the past two years. Benson Hill expressed its best wishes for Freeman as he moves on to his next professional endeavor.
