NEW Cooperative held an open house on August 24 for its new feed mill addition in Cooper, IA.

CEO Dan Dix says the $50 million project was completed over two years and added three million bushels of grain storage. The facility will produce livestock feed as well as fertilizer on site.

"This location now, which started out as agronomy only, has grown into one of our largest across our entire 60 locations across the state," Dix told Raccoon Valley Radio. "And actually in the case of anhydrous ammonia, is the single largest plant by volume that we have in our whole system.”

When it begins operation next week, the facility will produce 600,000 tons of mash or pellet feed for poultry and swine annually. The fertilizer facility will begin operation this fall and will be capable of producing 10,000 tons of fertilizer annually.
