According to a report in the Great Falls Tribune, the destruction of the iconic grain elevators in Hobson, MT, is planned for fall, unless someone comes up with a plan to save them in the next six months.

BNSF Railway spokesman Ross Lane told the Judith Basin Press that people in Hobson have emailed the railroad both to ask for the destruction of and for the preservation of the elevators, which have been in place for more than a century.

Someone “relayed community concerns about the condition and appearance of the elevators” so BNSF inspected the elevators for both their structural integrity and potential asbestos contamination.
