Hansen-Mueller, an Omaha, Nebraska-based company providing customized solutions for the grain industry since 1979, announced today that it has purchased ADM’s commercial elevator in Sioux City, Iowa.

The 4.6 million-bushel facility is strategically located at 1321 Lewis Boulevard and sits on the BNSF Railway.

“The acquisition of the ADM facility in Sioux City is strategic to our trading platform,” said Ed Askvig, Hansen-Mueller’s Facility Manager in Sioux City. “We expect this to be a pivotal location, further expanding our grain trading business and allowing us to provide our existing customers with enhanced services. We believe that this acquisition will pose little change to the producers in the area, and we’re looking forward to being a strong partner to both producers in the region and the entire Siouxland community.”

Hansen-Mueller owns or operates 19 facilities throughout nine states, including three port locations, three feed mills and two-grain processing facilities, in addition to its grain storage facilities. The Sioux City elevator is positioned 18 miles southwest of another recent addition to Hansen-Mueller’s operation, an organic feed mill located in Merrill, Iowa. Sioux City marks the third property for Hansen-Mueller located in Iowa and its second commercial grain elevator. This latest acquisition also comes on the heels of the company’s purchase of eight facilities in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota from Interstate Commodities in the fall of 2016.

Hansen-Mueller will begin accepting grain immediately at the Sioux City location. Bids can be found at www.hansenmueller.com.
