The U.S. Grains Council (USGC) celebrated the 15-year tenure of its Regional Director in Latin America, Marri Tejada, at its 21st International Marketing Conference and 64th Annual Membership Meeting in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The event, held from February 14 to 16, acknowledged Tejada's significant contributions to the organization.

Tejada, who began her journey with the USGC in 2008 in Washington, D.C., has since held various roles, culminating in her appointment as Regional Director in 2014. Her roots lie in Minnesota, where she is the daughter of a seventh-generation corn, soy, and swine farmer. Before joining the USGC, Tejada gained experience working for the Minnesota Corn Growers' Association.

A key milestone in Tejada's career was her early participation in the Partners in Agriculture conference in Japan. This experience was instrumental in shaping her approach to her role, particularly in understanding and respecting diverse cultures. Tejada reflected on the importance of merging different worlds and the lessons learned in navigating cultural differences, which are vital in her current position overseeing USGC programming across the Caribbean, Central, and South America.

Tejada credits the Japan conference with igniting her passion for working in varied environments and her ability to foster collaboration and manage diverse societal and trade expectations. Her journey with the Council, beginning in Japan, laid the foundation for her commitment and continued service.

In her personal life, Tejada is an enthusiast of hapkido, enjoys swimming, and loves spending time with her husband and children.

The USGC extends its congratulations to Marri Tejada on her remarkable 15-year journey and her invaluable contributions to the organization's mission.
