Trade Promotion Authority, or TPA, fast-track negotiating ability delegated to the U.S. president by Congress, is set to expire on Thursday, reports Bloomberg.

That power, which was granted under the Trade Act of 1974, has typically been renewed when president's wanted to pursue specific pacts.

President Biden hasn’t asked for the renewal of the authority, with his administration saying that it’s reviewing progress of talks with Britain and Kenya to make sure that potential accords are consistent with his pledge to prioritize workers.

Many trade experts consider TPA, which ensures an up or down vote without amendment, a prerequisite for negotiating new deals.
