The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) and Feedstuffs named Sanderson Farms in Collins, MS, their 2017 Feed Facility of the Year. The announcement was made during AFIA’s Feed Production Education program at the 2018 International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta, GA.

The Feed Facility of the Year award program acknowledges excellence in feed manufacturing operations based on a facility’s commitment to regulatory, safety and quality compliance. Sanderson Farms Collins is one of only 32 facilities that have received this honor.

The AFIA also discussed the importance of its new Feed Facility of the Year benchmark during its Feed Production Education program. The program will help facility managers improve individual operations and better the manufacturing efforts of the feed and grain industry. The 2017 benchmark showed that 63% of participants had an FDA inspection in 2017, while only 57% of participants had an inspection in 2016.

Participants of AFIA’s Feed Facility of the Year program are eligible for the benchmarking program. The program’s application will open from June to September 2018.
