Grain Barge Runs Aground on Columbia River

A barge filled with grain ran aground in the Columbia River on the morning of Thursday 1.27.22 according to reporting by KGW8’s Anthony Macuk and Pat Dooris.

The barge was pushed by high winds beached the barge near McGuire Island in Oregon. The barge sustained minor damage, but no injuries, spillage or pollution risk was reported.

Tidewater Holdings, the company operating the barge, called in its maintenance team as week as the U.S. Coast Guard to assess the damage and arranged for the barge to be towed.
