Mycotoxins are not a ‘feed problem’ — they’re a nutrition problem

If you want a quick way to start an argument in a room of poultry nutritionists, mention mycotoxins. Half the people will say, “That’s quality control.” The other half will say, “That’s a health issue.” Discussions during the 2026 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) reminded us that both are incomplete answers.

Mycotoxins showed up as a serious technical topic at the Latin American Poultry Summit, including discussion on their impact on feed conversion and the reality that certain toxins remain common in key grains in parts of the region.
