Legacy Grain is upgrading its elevator in Stonington, IL, to increase rail loading capabilities, reports WCIA.

A mile-long double-track is being installed that will hold up to 100 cars, up from its current 50. In addition, the facility in installing a new unloader underneath the concrete house and a new 600,000 bushel/hour leg that will elevate the corn up to the bulk weigher that loads into the cars. The system should take about four minutes to load each car.

While the elevator will be operational this fall, the project won't be completed until early November.
