Explosion at MGP Ingredients in Kansas

Atchison facility is assessing damage; no injuries reported

Authorities continue working to determine the cause of an explosion and fire at MGP Ingredients in Atchison, KS, reports the Salina Post.

Firefighters worked on a grain fire for a period of time in the area of the explosion. Traffic was diverted from the immediate area throughout the evening but no residents were evacuated and no employees were injured.

MGP is a supplier of distilled spirits and specialty wheat proteins and starches.

In a statement Saturday, MGP said it's assessing the damage and trying to determine the cause of the fire.
