Wheat Producers Prosper as Pasta Sales Soar

COVID-19 pandemic causes spike in pasta sales

Pasta sales are soaring and, it turns out, Italy buys some of its most important ingredients right here in the U.S.

“Where does Italy get some of its best wheat? They never guess Arizona,” Eric Wilkey, president of Arizona Grain, Inc. told Fox News.

Arizona Grain, Inc., Casa Grande, AZ, helps process around 330 million pounds of Desert Durum each year, shipping to factories around the world, who then turn the grain into pasta. Wilkey says their durum can make roughly 300 million boxes of pasta, half of that is exported to Italy.
