Vehicle Crashes Into Illinois Grain Bin

Unit was moved off its foundation; driver cited with DUI

A 2014 Chrysler crashed into a grain bin at 5116 North 950th Street in Mason Township, IL, Friday night, reports the Effingham Daily News.

According to a crash report from the Effingham County Sheriff's Office, driver Jacob A. Shelton, 28, of Effingham was traveling northbound on 950th Street at 9 p.m. June 1 when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway.

Shelton then struck the grain bin near 5116 causing it to move off its foundation. He was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for incapacitating injuries.

The man was issued citations for driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
