June was warmer than average for much of the U.S., especially in the Great Plains and Rocky Mountains, where average temperatures for the month were 4°F or more above normal.

By June 3, producers had nearly completed planting the 2018 corn acreage with 97% planted, two percentage points ahead of both the previous year and the 5-year average.

Eighty-seven percent of the U.S.’s soybean acreage was planted by June 3, six percentage points ahead of the previous year and 12 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average.

Winter wheat production was down less than 1% from June; durum wheat production was up 36% from 2017.
