An expected order from the White House that would provide relief for oil refineries from the ethanol mandate appears to have been sidelined, reports the Midland Reporter-Telegram.
Sen. Chuck Grassley said on Twitter late Tuesday that President Donald Trump had rejected the plan, which sought to lower the price of the biofuel credits that refineries must buy to the meet the federal mandate if they don't blend ethanol themselves.
"We are happy the president continues to recognize the importance of our industry to America's farmers and rural economies across the nation," Bob Dinneen, president of the trade group Renewable Fuels Association, said Tuesday.
