Train Carrying Grain Derails in Vidor, TX

Seven railroad cars derailed spilling corn and tearing up the track

Seven railroad cars derailed in Vidor, TX, Monday morning, spilling corn, tearing up rail track and temporarily closing Main Street for about two hours, according to Police Chief Rod Carroll according to the Beaumont Enterprise.

The cars, which were carrying corn, "became dislodged" on Old U.S. 90 around 6:30 a.m., Carroll said.

Main Street was reopened around 8:30 a.m. and there were no ongoing road closures, Carroll said.

Crews were expected to work throughout the day to empty the cars and turn them upright, Carroll said.
