Texas Feed Mill Reopens After Fire

Ammonium nitrate “untouched” in Tuesday's Valley Feed Mill fertilizer plant fire

State regulators were in Winnsboro on Thursday looking at the damage caused by a fire at the Valley Feed Mill, reports KLTV.

The fire at the Valley Feed Mill plant Tuesday was mostly centered on the fertilizer side of the building.

Richard Lenius with Lone Star Hazmat said ammonium nitrate stored at the fertilizer plant was "untouched."

“This facility was storing fertilizer in the appropriate manner,” Lenius told KLTV. “The way it was supposed to be stored. The top was covered with a wooden roof with a wooden structure, and that’s what was burning when we arrived, not the fertilizer.”

The Valley Feed Mill reopened for business on Thursday.
