The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the New York Shipping Association (NYSA) announced they have reached a tentative agreement, on a six-year local contract for the Port of New York and New Jersey.

The agreement is subject to ratification by ILA members and by the NYSA membership.

In June, the ILA and the U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) reached a tentative agreement on the master cntract which applies to nearly all container ports, from Maine to Texas. Local port agreements, such as the one with the Port of New York and New Jersey, are the next step in the process.

East Coast ports moved 30% of U.S. containerized grain exports in 2017.
