Firefighters rescued a teenager who was trapped Thursday morning in a grain elevator in Clifton, TX, reports KXXV.

The Waco Fire Department said they have successfully rescued a 16-year-old who was submerged up to his armpits in a grain silo.

The teenager, who sustained only minor injuries, was cleaning out the bin when the funnel pulled his feet down, trapping him around 8:30 a.m., said Ronny Liardon, captain of Clifton Fire Department.

Liardon said it was not a life-threatening situation.

Because there were no grain rescue boards available, crews improvised and used materials on hand to build their own. The teenager was surrounded with the boards as crews used a shop vacuum to remove the grain around him until he was clear enough to be pulled out, Liardon said.
