No injuries occurred

Fire gear

Wahoo Newspaper Staff Reporters' reported on a grain dust explosion that occurred Friday morning on June 30, 2017, at Frontier Cooperative elevator in Mead, NE. The explosion happened while the elevator was loading a train car, and though the cause is unknown an overheated bearing is believed to be responsible. Luckily, no one was hurt in the relatively minor explosion, in part because of the safety features built into the elevator leg. The leg suffered minor damage, but the elevator remains operational.
