New York Port Moves Record Amount of Grain in 2018

More than 51,000 metric tons of soybeans have been shipped out through Port of Oswego

The Port of Oswego in New York set a record in 2018 for grain exports with more than 51,000 metric tons of soybeans shipped out to foreign markets.

The Oswego County News Now reports that number represents a 325% increase over last year and led to an economic windfall that has drastically impacted the area, according to acting port Executive Director William Scriber.

Earlier this year, the Port of Oswego Authority applied for and was granted an export license by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). In conjunction with the license, the port upgraded its facilities to include a USDA lab and installed a state-of-the-art weighing system for exports in cooperation with Perdue Agribusiness.
