IPPE to Host Rendering Symposium

Two half-day meetings will examine industry challenges, opportunities

IPP Elogo new2019

The rendering industry is vital to the sustainability of animal agriculture. Every year, renderers safely convert more than 50 billion pounds of inedible animal products such as fat, bone and used cooking oil into everyday products, making rendering a highly sustainable practice and a key player in the reduction of food waste.

The successes of this industry and the challenges facing it will be discussed at the 2020 International Rendering Symposium, held in conjunction with the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) in Atlanta.

Hosted by the North American Renderers Association (NARA) and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY), the International Rendering Symposium will focus on challenges and opportunities facing the rendering industry today and in the near future, as renderers play a critical role in the sustainability of the agricultural industry.

The two half-day symposium will begin on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2020 and continue through Friday morning, Jan. 31. The cost of registration is $200.

Topics to be covered include: Today’s Political Climate and How it Affects Rendering; The Basics of the Rendering Industry and Process; Animal Co-Products Research; Managing Hazards in Rendering; The Pet Food Alliance: Rendering, Pet Food and Scientists; Battling Foreign Materials in Pet Food Ingredients; Equipment of Modern Rendering; Regulation of Feed, Pet Food and Ingredients; Rendering’s Impact on Agriculture Sustainability; Sustainability of Pet Food; and International Markets, Trade Agreements, Trends.

IPPE, the world's largest annual poultry, feed and meat industry trade show, will be held Jan. 28-30, 2020. IPPE is a collaboration of three trade shows — the International Feed Expo, International Poultry Expo and International Meat Expo — representing the entire chain of protein production and processing. The event is sponsored by USPOULTRY, the American Feed Industry Association and the North American Meat Institute.
