IPPE Hosting Hands-On Workshop
Focus will be on understanding and calculating experimental power
The workshop, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, will provide students and researchers with hands-on experience for using basic tools and techniques needed to understand and calculate experimental power. The two-day workshop is a collaboration between the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) and the University of New England.
Based on the book “Nutrition Experiments in Pigs and Poultry” by Michael R. Bedford, Mingan Choct and Helen Masey O’Neill, attendees will leave this workshop with workbooks needed to calculate experimental power and an understanding of how variation and replication affect the chances of finding meaningful experimental results.
The only requirements for attendance are a laptop with Microsoft Excel that is able to run solver and a basic understanding of normal distributions and tests of significance.
The cost of registration to attend the program is $75.
The 2020 IPPE will be held Jan. 28-30 and is a collaboration of three trade shows –- the International Feed Expo, International Poultry Expo and International Meat Expo -– representing the entire chain of protein production and processing.
The event is sponsored by USPOULTRY, the American Feed Industry Association and the North American Meat Institute.
