Iowa Ethanol Plant Will Halt Production

Siouxland Energy Cooperative will idle production because of ethanol waivers

A northwest Iowa ethanol plant will halt production because of exemptions the Trump administration granted to dozens of oil refineries so they don’t have to blend ethanol into their gasoline, reports KTIV.

In a letter, the board of directors of the Siouxland Energy Cooperative says it will idle production at its ethanol plant in Sioux Center, IA.

The board says the exemptions granted by the Trump administration undermined the Renewable Fuel Standard, and reduced ethanol demand by 4-billion gallons.
