Insight FS employees and community members celebrated the grand opening of the new Brandon Feed Mill on June 20 with tours highlighting the new technology the plant brings to the area.

“This new Brandon Feed Mill represents the importance of innovation, quality and efficiency we bring to our customers,” says Insight FS General Manager Dave Mottet. “We see this as an opportunity to continue building on our high-quality feed offerings throughout Wisconsin.”

The mill is completely automated and utilizes specialized equipment, including an auto-micro mixing station, computerized Repete system and a four-ton drop bottom mixer, all of which increase efficiency in quality control and order fulfillment. The mill has an annual production capacity of over 37,500 ton and bulk storage capacity of 1.7 million pounds.

The feed mill also houses a state of the art dust collection system for the safety of the fifteen employees that work in the facility. The feed mill also meets new federal regulations established by the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

“We looked at the needs of our diverse feed customers and the extensive work that goes into meeting FSMA compliance, and invested roughly $4.5 million into building a mill that we can grow with,” says Steve Hellenbrand, Insight FS feed marketing manager.

Over 200 people toured the mill Wednesday, which will now service a majority of Wisconsin with their feed needs.
