The House will vote on a GOP farm bill next week that would impose tougher work requirements on food stamp recipients says a report from The Hill.

In related news, President Donald Trump told key lawmakers Thursday that the tighter work rules for food stamp recipients move "in the right direction," but he stopped short of threatening to veto legislation that doesn't include them, according to an article at Agri-Pulse.

In remarks released by his committee, House Agriculture Chairman Mike Conaway (R-TX) said he asked Trump to use his Twitter account to promote the bill. He acknowledged to reporters ahead of the meeting that he was still short of the necessary votes for final passage.
