GrainBridge, an ag technology joint venture of Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) and Cargill Inc., launches a new digital platform focused on helping farmers streamline the grain marketing process to make more informed and profitable decisions.

The new platform, named GrainBridge, is offered to farmers at no cost. Initially, it will bring together transaction information — such as contracts, scale tickets and settlements — for current customers of ADM or Cargill, or those who become customers.

During preliminary development, the new platform was announced as STRATUM, but recently changed to the respected GrainBridge brand name.

Currently, farmers must rely on multiple applications and data points to track their inputs, production and marketing activities. Until now, there has been no single tool for efficiently storing and managing all this information. It can become overwhelming for them to attempt to organize and manage all of that information, especially from a marketing perspective.

“The GrainBridge grain marketing tool is the first application in which transaction information from two different grain buyers will be available on the same platform, instead of farmers having to go to two different logins or call their buyers,” said Mark Johnson, CEO of the Omaha-based ag tech company. “GrainBridge brings it all together into one simple interface.”

Features

With this advanced tool, farmers can:

  • View local cash bids map — Allows farmers to see bids from platform participants.
  • Check on market prices without leaving the GrainBridge site — View futures and options prices for commodities traded on an exchange.
  • Avoid lines by looking up wait times — Each ADM and Cargill location has the ability to display wait times.
  • Have a go-to application for ADM and Cargill facility information — Allows users to easily see hours, alerts, announcements, staff and facility contact information and discount schedules.

The system currently includes more than 400 grain-buying locations, and more are being added. Other future enhancements will further empower farmers to market their grain more confidently and profitably.

“Farmers face serious challenges and need user-friendly tools to organize accounts, consolidate fragmented records and see around corners to identify profitable marketing opportunities,” said Greg Morris, president of ADM Agricultural Services and Oilseeds business. “GrainBridge is a valuable business management tool to help growers navigate these challenges while running complex farm operations.”

“We know producers have dealt with piecemeal information about the grain markets, making it difficult to compare opportunities on the go,” said Roger Watchorn, president of Cargill’s North American agricultural supply chain. “During the testing phase of GrainBridge, producers found value in the user-friendly integrated marketing platform and its ability to create time-saving efficiencies and expanded views of the market.”

How to Participate

Farmers can sign up for a new GrainBridge account at GrainBridge.com. Local ADM and Cargill representatives can also assist with farmers’ transition from their respective grain marketing applications like ADM FarmView and CargillAg. All of their information will be there, with no additional work for them to transition information from one system to another.

Security and Privacy

GrainBridge takes data privacy very seriously and has architected its platform from the ground up with the latest technology from Amazon Web Services to protect farmer information. They will never sell farmer data or share it without their permission.
