Grain Silo Collapses into Texas Lake

Structure sank into Lake Fort Phantom Hill in Abilene, TX

November 30, 2020

One of the two grain silos at Lake Fort Phantom Hill in Abilene, TX, collapsed over the weekend and sank into the 80-year-old lake reports KTXS.

Rodney Taylor, director of water utilities, said the collapse was most likely due to mother nature and time.

The grain storage silos predate construction of Lake Fort Phantom Hill which was completed around 1938.
