Grain Dryer Fire in Deerfield, OH

One man was treated for a minor injury

A grain dryer malfunctioned at Deerfield Ag Services Saturday, igniting the silo and the soybeans inside, reports the Record-Courier.

Deerfield Fire Chief Brian Allison said one man, a worker at the farm, was treated for a minor injury at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center.

The fire started when the equipment clogged igniting the soybeans and affecting the whole unit.

The beans had to be emptied into semi tractor trailers, where firefighters doused the contents of the silo with water.
