Reuters’ Karl Plume reports on a pair of differing accounts about a possible combination or purchase between Glencore Plc. and Bunge Ltd. Glencore released a statement saying it “has made an informal approach to Bunge Limited regarding a possible consensual business combination.” The company noted that these talks may not amount to anything.
Bunge responded to this release with a release of its own, “In response to a statement issued today by Glencore plc, Bunge Limited (NYSE:BG) ("Bunge”) stated that it is not engaged in business combination discussions with Glencore Agriculture Limited or Glencore plc. Bunge is committed to continuing to execute its global agri-foods strategy and pursuing opportunities for driving growth and value creation.”
