There are a number of factors that can lead to grain entrapment. In GEAPS 545: Grain Entrapment: Causes, Prevention and Rescue you will learn the basics of grain entrapment; including how to identify problem areas, preventive maintenance and different equipment and systems to prevent entrapment.

This online course from the GEAPS/K-State Distance Education Program will help you put emergency plans in place and identify regulations, initiatives and standards. The course should take about 10 hours to complete.

“I took this course to further my knowledge of the grain industry and specific hazards,” said Ryan Towne, Green Plains - Bluffton. “It made me much more aware of the accidents that can occur and the risks involved when entering a grain bin. It was very good at covering dangers, followed by rescues. It gave me a much deeper understanding on how to identify these risks and how to respond properly to a situation.”

GEAPS 545 is one of four courses required for the Specialist Credential in Property and Casualty Risk Management. For more information on courses or credentials, visit the program website.
