Vulcan County council has approved rezoning land adjacent to Carmangay to allow G3 Canada Ltd. to apply for a development permit to build a grain terminal facility, reports The Vulcan Advocate.
The Winnipeg-based company’s proposed facility would include a concrete elevator, three 78-foot-diameter steel bins and 140-railcar capacity loop track connected to the CP mainline, as well as roads, elevator island, administration building and utilities. G3 says 12 to 14 permanent full-time staff would be hired to run the facility.
Before starting construction of the facility, G3 still needs subdivision and development permit applications to be approved by County council.
If G3 receives approvals for the project, the company anticipates beginning construction next month and operating the facility in March 2020.
