Man Rescued from Grain Bin

Farmer trying to unclog an auger was stuck in grain up to his chest

Crews were on scene of a grain bin rescue in Rural Champaign County, IL, about two miles north of Ivesdale, according to a report at WandTV.com.

Fire officials were called out just after 7 a.m. on March 2 for reports of a farmer stuck in a grain bin. They say the farmer was trying to unclog the auger.

The farmer was stuck in grain up to his chest. Luckily with the help of the Urbana Fire Department and other first responders the man was rescued just after 9 a.m.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.

Ivesdale Fire Chief James Brewer says accidents like this don't always have a positive outcome. "It's especially hard in a small town like this when you know everybody," says Chief Brewer.
