Two fire departments banned together last week to safely extract a rural Edgerton, MN, man from a grain bin where he was buried up to his chest in corn, reports the Pipestone County Star.

Alex Spronk, 33, was transported to Pipestone County Medical Center on Wednesday, Sept. 11, after being raised roughly 85 feet from the bottom of a grain bin and lowered to safety and a waiting ambulance.

The effort took almost three hours of exertion; Spronk said it felt like an hour, tops, and then he was treated and released and almost ready for work the same day.
