Mansfield, OH, firefighters extinguished a soybean fire in the dryer at the Centerra grain elevators on Monday afternoon, reports the Mansfield News Journal.
Fire Chief Steve Strickling said no one was injured but firefighters took the fire hose near the top platform of the dryer, which dries the grain, and put the fire out.
"We had grain on fire inside the dryer," Strickling said. "We were able to empty out the dryer from down below, dump the grain out and put out what was smoldering there. We had to use a little bit of water inside the dryer itself to extinguish the remainder of the fire."
