Fire at Cargill Grain Milling Plant, Cedar Rapids, IA

Crews worked with plant staff to empty hopper of burning soybeans

According to a report from KCRG-TV9, firefighters had to use a 100-foot aerial ladder to spray water on a fire at the Cargill grain milling facility on 12th Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids, IA.

According to a news release, the fire happened around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday at 1120 12th Avenue SW.

Firefighters arrived to find fire showing from an exterior grain holding hopper and used the ladder to spray water from above until the fire darkened down. Crews worked with plant staff to empty the hopper of burning soybeans and placed them in a parking lot.

All plant personnel were accounted for and there were no injuries reported.
