Expansion Planned for Sheldon, IA, Feed Company

Deluxe Feed Inc. will spend $37M on the expansion and create 15 additional jobs

According to a report at the Sioux City Journal, ground was broken in September for what Deluxe Feed Inc. officials project to be a 20-month-long expansion project at its Sheldon, IA, facility.

Five new pellets mills, high-efficiency packaging equipment, grain cleaning and packaging innovations, two separate processing lines and a 50,000-square-foot warehouse are all part of the new addition, according to a press release from Deluxe, a division of the Muscatine-based Kent Nutrition Group.

All told, the company is spending $37 million on this expansion, which will generate $330,000 in new annual tax dollars for Sheldon and create 15 additional jobs in the O’Brien County community of about 5,300.

Deluxe manufactures livestock feed. The new plant will increase volume and the flexibility of the operation while providing more products and service to swine, dairy and beef customers in a four-state area.

The new project is expected to be completed by winter 2019. This is the fourth time since 2003 Deluxe has made an expansion to its Sheldon plant.
