Mike Erker was born and raised in Fort Morgan, and his love of northeast Colorado provided the driving force in creating Erker Grain Company in 1976.
His father, Edward, grew up on a farm south of Roggen, and his mother, came from a farm south of Wiggins. Erker was one of five brothers that were raised in Morgan County.
Erker left the county to attend Regis College in Denver, where he majored in business and minored in micro economics. From there he went on to work at Farmco in the Farmland Industries Terminal (warehouse/elevator) division.
