The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is close to releasing its proposal for how much biofuel refiners must blend into the U.S. transportation fuel supply next year, a spokeswoman said Friday.

S&P Global reports the policy will include 2019 blending requirements for ethanol and advanced biofuels and 2020 requirements for biodiesel.

The Renewable Fuel Standard requires refiners and importers to blend 19.29 billion gallons of renewable fuel into the U.S. transportation fuel supply in 2018, including an implied 15 billion gallons of conventional ethanol. The conventional level is unchanged from 2017.
