DEP Gives Final Nod to Controversial Soybean Crushing Facility
Locals worry about the use of the solvent hexane
The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued its final plan approval for Perdue AgriBusiness' proposed grain elevator and soybean crushing facility in Conoy Township, Lancaster County, enabling the company to begin full construction on the plant as early as June.
The plan and plant have long been controversial and staunchly opposed by locals for their use of a solvent, hexane, to extract the oil from the bean. To read more click here.
