CHS is in the process of upgrading its Akron, CO, elevator facility to improve speed and increase efficiency during harvest, reports the Akron News-Reporter.
To increase the speed of the elevator, CHS is increasing the speed of the existing leg and adding another leg inside the elevator to handle more grain faster.
With these two updates, the Akron elevator will now operate four times faster. Along with the leg upgrades, CHS is also replacing the distributor and tubing in the top of the elevator.
The Akron facility will also now have inbound and outbound scales and an RFID card system.
