Chemical Leak at Pilgrim's Pride

Several people taken to hospital after organic peroxide spill on Friday

A leak was discovered in a FedEx truck after it arrived to deliver a cleaning chemical to the Pilgrim’s Pride chicken plant near Canton, GA, on Friday.

CBS 46 reports the chemical is called organic peroxide and is a breathing hazard.

Hazmat crews are working to clean up the spill, and all 300 employees of the plant were evacuated.

Several people were taken to hospitals for breathing problems.
