Bunge Plans to Shrink Before Growing

CEO: Headquarters move is a shift to more efficient, streamlined global structure

Bunge Ltd. CEO Greg Heckman has said the company’s planned headquarters move from New York to its existing St. Louis-area offices is a “big step forward” in shifting its operating model to a more efficient, streamlined global structure.

According to the St. Louis Business Journal, the agribusiness and food company began that process anew this spring, as it looks to "shrink" before growing again, officials said.

The headquarters move comes about four months after Bunge named Heckman as its CEO.

In May, Bunge said it was restructuring its operations — switching from a regional structure to a "global operating model" aligned with its commercial activities to cut costs.
